How to get your UNN transcript

Everything you need to request an official University of Nigeria, Nsukka transcript: what it costs, what to prepare, each step, and how to send it to WES or another school.

What a UNN transcript costs

Each copy sent to a different place is usually a separate request with its own fee.

These are three different documents with different uses. Check which one the receiver asked for before you pay.

This guide

Transcript

Your full academic record: every course, its units and grade, semester by semester, and your final CGPA. Official copies are sealed or sent electronically by the university straight to the receiver.

For further study, WES and other evaluators, some employers

Statement of result

A one-page letter confirming you graduated, your degree and your class. It is usually issued to you, not to a receiver, and is often what you use until the certificate is ready.

For NYSC, jobs and further study while you wait for your certificate

Certificate and verification

The degree certificate itself. Many receivers ask the university to confirm it is genuine. This is a separate verification request, often started by the receiver, and it usually has its own fee.

For employers, embassies and professional bodies

Before you start

What you need

  • Your matric number in full, e.g. 1999/123456
  • The name you used at admission
  • A working personal email for alerts and tracking
  • The receiving institution's full address, including postcode and country
  • A card or bank for Remita
  • Your RRR for any follow-up
Also have ready
  • Your full name exactly as it appears in the school records
  • Matric number, department, faculty and year of graduation
  • Scanned statement of result or certificate, in case the portal asks for it
  • The receiver's official email or postal address, copied from their website
  • Any reference number the receiver gave you, such as a WES reference
  • A working email and phone number to get updates

Fully online on the UNN iTranscript portal, paid through Remita. Foreign cards are accepted.

Each destination is a separate request with its own fee.

Quote your full name, matric number and RRR whenever you contact UNN.

Step by step

Apply for your UNN transcript

  1. 1Open the iTranscript portalGo to alumni.unn.edu.ng/itranscript and enter a personal email you check often.
  2. 2Create your profileChoose Undergraduate or Postgraduate, your campus, and type your matric number in full.
  3. 3Say whether you have applied beforeFirst time? Tick "No, I don't have an application". Already paid? Choose Confirm.
  4. 4Choose Local or Foreign paymentLocal for a Nigerian address, Foreign for anywhere abroad, including WES.
  5. 5Enter the receiver's addressFull address with city, state, postcode and country. A wrong address means paying again for re-delivery.
  6. 6Pay with RemitaPay by card online or take the RRR to a bank.
  7. 7Track itLog back in to see progress. A courier tracking number appears once the courier collects a hard copy.

Email (soft copy)

Email is the default way UNN sends transcripts, at no extra cost. Hard copy is optional.

Courier (hard copy)

Only when the receiver insists on paper. Courier usually costs more and takes longer.

Sending it to WES for Canada or the US?UNN doesn't name WES, but says a soft copy can go to any university or organisation. Give WES as the recipient and include your WES reference number.Read the UNN WES guide
Watch out for

What slows UNN transcripts down

UNN says a wrongly typed matric number "greatly" delays processing.
Successful payments cannot be cancelled or reversed, and delivered transcripts cannot be returned.
To change the address before shipping, email unn.itranscript@unn.edu.ng. Re-delivery costs extra.
A typing mistake in the receiver's email or address. The transcript goes out and you pay again. Copy it from the receiver's website and check it twice.
Unpaid fees or incomplete final clearance. Many schools hold transcripts until every debt and clearance step is settled.
Your name spelt differently on different documents. If it changed after graduation, ask the school which proof it needs before you apply.
Paying an agent or someone on campus to "speed it up". Pay only on the official portal or bank channel and keep every receipt.

Yes. Email is the default and costs nothing extra on top of the ₦12,000 or ₦25,000 fee.
